About Me
Hello, my name is Eric Holdeman and we are located on a small ranch in North Idaho. I am 25 years old and have 2 brothers 1 sister and 2 sister in-laws and 2 little nieces. My main interests have always been hunting, fishing, horses, cattle, and the great outdoors. We have around 100 cows and a bunch of horses, of which 4 are mine. Most of our household income comes from logging, which my Dad and brothers do. I logged also for about 5 years. Coffee has been a big part of my life for most of my life also. It has been always been there through the thick and thin. From being there to help wake you up early in the mornings for a hard day in the woods, to being a good social drink in the evenings.
I've made many pots of cowboy coffee over a fire in the woods when it's snowing and cold, and it really hits the spot. I've especially always enjoyed good quality specialty coffee and bought it whenever I thought I could afford it.
About 5 years ago I was getting a little restless and ready for a new challenge and decided to try something different for a while, so I got a job working for a cattle rancher around here. They have a lot more cattle than we do plus they feed the calves out butcher them in there packing plant. They also do some logging now and then on there property which I knew how to do, so it was a very good job and enjoyable for me.
On the way to work one summer morning just before my 21 st birthday I fell asleep and rolled my vehicle and broke my neck at C5-6 just about killing me and have been in a wheelchair ever since. Coffee was still there. As I laid on my back in intensive care and couldn't eat or drink anything, nothing smelled better than the coffee people were drinking, especially at night when it was quiet and dark, and you'd better know it as soon as I could I was drinking it again. In the rehab center where they sent me for three months they had a espresso stand and whenever people felt like being nice to me they would give me a mocha or late` or something like that. Once I got home I had to try to come up with something to do that I could do and could hopefully enjoy doing. Sounds like a tall order.
I have always enjoyed good coffee and I certainly could not afford it now, and my taster worked better than ever so there was only one thing and it was perfect COFFEE ROASTING. With the help of my dad I got a small home roaster and started roasting coffee. I had lots of fun with that little roaster and we made lots of awesome coffee. I started doing some research on commercial roasters and finally ordered a brand new shiny red 3 kilo Diedritch coffee roaster. So now I'm sitting here roasting away trying to make the best coffee possible. I buy only the best beans I can possibly find from different importers and I think you will like it. We have wild unique tasting coffees and also lots of good normal kinds plus we have light roasts and dark roasts and some with both.
Here's hoping you can enjoy my love of coffee, and I welcome you to try my many kinds and blends, and feel free to tell me what you think.
Thank You,
Eric
